I use the Canon 24-105mm Lens
as my primary lens. With the widest focal length of 24mm and acceptable zoom of 105mm, it is perfect for everyday use.
I often leave this lens permanently attached but switch to my other lens when necessary.
Sharpness: I find the images sharp throughout most of the frame. Sometimes I notice slight blurriness around the edges on the right and left, up to about 5% into the image.
Distortion: Distoration is very acceptable and I never have much of an issue with it.
Chronic Aberration: Although there can sometimes be Chronic Aberration when shooting into strong light, it is often small and can easily be removed in software such as Lightroom.
What I like...
Things I like about the Canon 24-105mm Lens
- Compatible with full frame and crop sensor bodies so a good investment
- Fixed focusing ring so your filters don't swivel
- Excellent multi purpose focal range
- Dust and moisture resistant
- Often comes with a lens hood
What I don't like...
Things I don't like about the Canon 24-105mm Lens
- Bulky and heavy - although worth it for the quality
- When the camera is hanging the lens slowly extends to the full focal length. This is most likely due to the weight
- It would be nice if the widest aperture was F2.8 or there was a F2.8 option
